Pizza for the first time!

We took pizza to our Burmese friends house last night and it was a big hit! The thought that this is the first time someone is having something that is such a staple in our diet is really exciting to me and then it sends me down the mind path of all the other first time experiences that people from a different culture experience every day. How exciting and overwhelming it must be at times for people that have to make such big changes. I took with me a Burmese English dictionary and came to find that my family is actually Karen, they speak two different languages. Lucky for us Dad speaks both but I could tell that he would much rather speak Karen. During our visit we were blessed with the company of many of the family's neighbors. I love that in Karen culture that "family" is welcome always, we really could learn from this in our culture:) The first visit I had with the family the mother gave me a beautiful hand made shirt and during our dinner last night I found out that it took her three days to make my shirt! What an amazing gift, I am so thankful. I am so glad that I have been led to this type of humanitarian service. Since I have started this exciting journey my heart feels bigger, I don't complain about silly things, I feel compelled to do more for others and I have a perspective on life that is truly amazing. If there is anyone that needs a Burmese English dictionary let me know I have one:)
