Do you have pictures of your family? If we don't have a picture release on file, I'll send one along! We LOVE pictures.
Attached are the photos of Shamsa and Istahil getting their new bikes. What is not shown is me giving them speech #72 about wearing their helmets. We walk a very fine line when making suggestions regarding their safety. They do have helmets and their oldest brother assured us they would wear them but he seemed to be saying that this was just a "test run" along the sidewalk. We'll keep working on the bicycle safety portion of responsible bike ownership! :~)
Please pass along my sincere thanks to the family who donated and fixed them up! The girls were just all smiles and very excited to have their own bikes. Their brothers (who have had bikes for a few weeks now) seemed to think that the girls would have to hand the bikes over whenever asked. Being the feminist that I am, I also made it perfectly clear who the bikes belonged to. "This is Shamsa's bike, Mohamud. SHAMSA'S bike." (I also made a few more comments about how long they had waited for the bikes, etc. But I am not sure it translated as anything other than "Blah, Blah Blah, Bikes.")
After that little speech, the girls' smiles got even wider! Thank you, thank you, thank you! It was a great day in the Omar household yesterday!
