After-School Program at the Boise Language Academy (BLA)

Hello all you great volunteers!  I wanted to give a heads up to those who have families with kids at the BLA.  The enrollment forms for the after-school program will be handed out at school today and are due back by Friday morning.  The session begins next Tues, Feb. 2.

The program is for students ages 12 to 15 (and some young 16-yr.-olds) and is on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:30.  The students who enroll need to come every day and they ride the city bus home afterwards (their school I.D. card is a free bus pass.)

From 2:30 to 2:45 we have a snack and open gym, followed by 45 min. of homework help or tutoring in math and reading.  From 3:30 to 4:30 there are classes that the students choose.  This session (6 wks. - Feb. 2 - Mar. 11) we have Sports & Fitness, Volleyball, Arts & Crafts, Computer Keyboarding, Singing & Musical Expression, Fun with Science, and Yoga - something for everyone.

The after-school program is a great opportunity for the students to get some extra help with academics, practice their English a little longer each day, socialize, get exercise, learn some new skills and activities, and to just have fun!

Please encourage the BLA students in your family to join the after-school program and help them fill out the blue form and get it back to school by Friday.

If you have any questions, please call Ellen Albus, the Youth Program Coordinator at the IRC.

Thanks so much for all you do to help our families!!  Ellen Albus
