Hi all you wonderful volunteers. I am Ellen Albus, the Youth Program Coordinator. Joanie asked me to be a staff guest blogger to get some information out to those of you who work with families with youth ages 12 to 20.
Did you know that all students at the Boise Language Academy and Boise, Borah and Capital High Schools may ride the city bus free with their school I.D. or lunch card? It's true! And, their cards work as a bus pass all summer long, so please let them know that they should hang on to these cards after school is out!
I will soon be sending a mailing to each family with teens, telling about the various summer activities available for them through the IRC youth program. For teens who often watch their younger siblings, I recommend the babysitting class that will be offered in cooperation with St. Al's the week of June 8. There are also fun activities throughout the summer. Please help them to fill out the enrollment forms if they choose to participate, and get them back to me as soon as possible. Some activities have a limit on the number of students, so the earlier the forms are turned in, the better their chances of being able to participate. Please call me if you or your family have questions about the summer programs.
Thank you so much for all the work you do with our families. We here at the IRC really appreciate all you do! Ellen
